Partnering with B Lab U.S. & Canada’s Racial Equity Team on the Learning Journey and supporting the BIPOC Network was an opportunity to bring Elleria's values to life: equity, collaboration, and sustainable change. This project was a perfect example of how meaningful relationships, collaboration, and trust can result in sustainable, impactful change. We were able to design strategies that not only met immediate needs but also laid the groundwork for ongoing progress, ensuring B Lab’s work would be strengthened and continue beyond the scope of our agreement.
The Learning Journey was at the heart of this project. Its purpose was to provide participants with a structured, reflective process that would help deepen their understanding of racial equity within the context of the B Corp ecosystem. We recommended:

Elleria's goal was clear: to ensure the deliverables would empower B Lab to sustain and grow their equity work independently. From tools designed to advocate for continued funding to a reimagined assessment framework for the Learning Journey, every piece was created to deepen their impact and demonstrate the value of their work to funders and the broader B Corp community. One of the most impactful moments was transforming the Learning Journey scorecard into a comprehensive, user-friendly impact report. This shift was a key decision that helped align the assessment process with B Lab’s long-term goals. When we presented the idea, the trust we had built through regular communication and shared understanding allowed them to immediately accept the recommendation. It was a validation of the collaborative relationship we had nurtured. We also focused on ensuring that all deliverables were actionable and adaptable. Our goal was always to leave B Lab with resources they could expand upon or use to advocate for future funding. Every deliverable was crafted to strengthen their ability to demonstrate the effectiveness and necessity of their work, ensuring it would be visible to the wider B Corp community and beyond.
One of the most important aspects of this project was advocating for a more systemic approach to equity work. Through our bi-weekly meetings, we were able to go beyond just the technical aspects of the project and engage in deep discussions about how we, as individuals and as an organization, were navigating the broader context in which we were working. Current events, social justice issues, and personal challenges played a significant role in shaping how we approached our work together. These discussions reinforced our belief that equity should not be seen as a standalone initiative, relegated to a specific group or department. Instead, it should be embedded into every part of an organization’s operations, from leadership to decision-making to daily practices. We explored making the case for integrating equity into the organization’s core processes rather than assigning it as a task to specific individuals or teams. Although the evaluating the structure of B Lab was not in the scope of this agreement, we shared the belief in the need for a cultural shift that would ensure equity work is seen as integral to the organization’s mission, not as an afterthought or an add-on. This shift, we believe, will have long-lasting benefits for B Lab’s culture and the communities they serve.
Our work focuses on crafting tailored solutions that address both the immediate needs and long-term sustainability of organizations. It’s about helping organizations navigate complexity, embed equity, and build lasting relationships with their teams and communities. At Elleria Consulting, we prioritize relationships, trust, and collaboration. This project was a perfect example of how aligning those values with strategic planning and thoughtful execution can yield results that are both impactful and sustainable. Our role was to design processes that empowered B Lab to expand its reach, deepen its impact, and create systems that would support long-term change. This partnership is just the beginning. With the strategies and frameworks we developed during this project, B Lab is poised to take its work to the next level. The next phase will involve implementing the plans and assessments we developed, which will bring the vision we outlined to life.
